Why ski cross-country?
Yes, it's true - Nordic skiing is too good to be true. Consider:
- There are no crowded lift lines
- No expensive lift tickets
- Equipment is affordable
- It is truly easy to learn
- There are great vistas
- Great comraderie and support from fellow skiers - cross country skiers are some of the friendliest folks around
- The natural high - endorphins - need we say more?
- and, it's one of the true "silent sports" - in other words, there are no engines out there.
For beginners, cross-country skiing can seem like a lot of work. The skis can seem hard to control. But one of the wonders of the sport is how quickly and painlessly (have you ever tried snowboarding?) it is to learn.
After a couple outings, the rhythm that propels you forward starts to really come together. There is nothing like the sensation of gliding along the snow in a great outdoor environment.
However, once you learn, you feel a poetry in motion, you have complete freedom and it is perhaps the best aerobic activity for a healthy lifestyle. The basic skis, boots, poles to get you started aren't very expensive. Even alpine skiers often bring along Nordic skis for a change of pace on ski trips.
So - what are you waiting for - see you on the trails soon!
